The heavy sidelock customarily indicates youth in ancient Egypt but it was also used in the dress of a Crown Prince and the High Priest of Ptah. This fine portrait must have represented one of these highly important persons. The head was previously dated to Dynasty 25, and a final decision on its date remains open for further research.
