The "Nun"-dishes

The "Nun"-dishes, which are always made of glazed paste, all present a decoration, based on the lotus. This flower evokes rebirth: the sun is born of a lotus which lives in the primordial ocean, Nun. This Brussels example is decorated with a white lotus flower of which the petals are open. The floral design, painted in green on a white background, is distinguished by brown coloured details.
