owl statuette

This small statuette in serpentine represents an owl. Carved in sculpture in the round the piece measures 13 cm from the brow to the tail, and 9.5 cm from the top of the skull to underneath the feet, which are folded under the body and joined with it The head is round, framed by a ring of finely grooved barbs. It could be that the statuette dates from the Protodynastic Period.
