Bronze head of Dionysus

Bronze head of Dionysus found in the pyramid tomb at Meroe of Prince Arikan-Kharer, son of King Natakmani (c.12 BC- 12 AD). Late Hellenistic in style, dating from circa 150 BC, it is one of several Greek objects found in Meroitic royal tombs. It was probably obtained in the course of trade with Ptolemaic Egypt.
