Painted statue of a servant

Adapted from Borchardt: Painted statue of a servant grinding grain. Wood. Length: 0.285 m.
From Dahshur 1894/95. The knees and toes are touching the ground. The body is slightly bent backwards and the hands are placed on the upper grinding stone. The ears are covered by a short wig.
Colouring: Hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, pupils - black, eyes - white, apron - yellow.
Tooley (p. 10) notes that this figure is unusual in that such millers are normally female.
