HUMAN FIGURINE

Sitting Statuette of an Old Man
EGYPTIAN MUSEUM
inventory number JE 44902
Many poses appeared in ancient Egyptian art and each went through several stages of development. This is an example of the squatting position, used in almost all schools of Egyptian art.
This statuette shows an old man squatting and holding in his hands an ivory pin with a falcon's head. The excellent craftsmanship and ability to make good use of the materials cannot be overlooked. Attention is especially given to the beautifully worked details of the old man's back.
