Stela of Mem

Stela of Mem
The stela of Mem is not lacking in originality, shown by the slightly angular but not inelegant manner of representation of the individuals in the lower register, the use of relief in hollow areas, the careful lines of the hieroglyphs and the pronounced jutting-out of the cornice (a detail inspired by false-door stelae of the Old Kingdom, with the difference that this architectural element is not decorated with the motif of palm leaves). Mem, shown standing before an offering table, is accompanied by his wife and mother.
